Anxiety at night seems the worst possible form of an anxiety attack. I would think that the substantial majority of anxiety suffers, would like to be proficient to treat night time anxiety. I do not understand what it is, but having night time anxiety feels tons worse than having anxiety through the day.
I used to suffer with night time anxiety really bad, it got to the phase where I started to fear the night time. And of course the extra attention that I gave to it the deeper ingrained my night time anxiety got. It started to be a viscous circle.
But how i learnt to treat night time anxiety, was that i set into place some coping strageties.
The earliest thing I did was to have a dvd player in the bedroom, and watched my favourite films to distract me from my anxiety. Since I really needed a respectable nights sleep.
In reality what I wanted was a respite from my anxiety. Concentrating on a film that I liked unfocused my mind, which gave me tiny breaks from my anxiety. Except it was more than that, if a diversion could prevent my anxiety it just proved to me that my belief where attracting my anxiety.
This in actuality started to help me treat my night time anxiety. A minor break from my anxiety was really appreciated, I can tell you.
I also bought some relaxation cd’s to listen too as I was trying to go to sleep. Being relaxed in reality does help anxiety. Whilst we are in a anxious state are bodies are so tensed and ready for the fight or flight syndrome, we in reality need to get our bodies to lighten up and feel calm and peaceful. I cannot stress this enough, get your body to rest.
I also tried exercises at night before I went to bed to get clear of all my spare energy. This may well sound different but I was up for trying anything to treat night time anxiety. My night time regime was exercise, immerse in the bath, then either a dvd or a relaxation tape to help me get off to sleep.
You may possibly also try taking some natural herbs at night to aid you unwind and get off to sleep. Make sure you discuss with a specialist who can show you on what to take and how much to take.
If you do not mind taking medicine to treat night time anxiety, then there are sleeping tablets or sedatives that you can take that will help you ease your night time anxiety. Again ask your doctor about what drugs are available and not dangerous to take.
But bring to mind taking pills for anxiety does not treat your anxiety, but it does give you a respite from it. The best way to treat anxiety is to find a counsellor or personal coach who can help you to work through the issues that are causing your anxiety.
