The Biggest Limitations Slowing Down the Advancement of AI

Published

on

One of the biggest advancement in the technological word at the moment is the development of Artificial Intelligence or more commonly known as AI.

When taking a look at this industry you will see two things, large amounts of money being invested in the development of this industry and that there is a rather large interest in any of the products which are being said to be produced in this industry.

Let’s take a look at the finances of this industry

When you take a look at how much money is being invested within this industry you will see that from the year of 2014 the total value of investments went from $ 3.2 Billion to just over $9.5 billion in the year of 2017.

Now, in any normal industry this is an unprecedented growth increase from the startup amount, and if the financial growth was directly related to the number of products which should have been sold, then the number of products which make use of AI technology should be at every shop we visit, however, the number of products which have actually been created in the industry being sold in store is almost nonexistent compared to other industries.

Why is this an issue?

If you take a look at what the wonderful world of AI can do and what other industries that could make use of AI technology play an important and crucial role in our medical industries, agricultural and any other technology-based industry.

Because of the slow development of these industries, the world and countries are not able to develop at an advanced rate, which means that it could take us another 10 years to find the cure for cancer or even solve our problem with making use of non-renewable energy sources which is causing our environment to start to shut down and enter a repair cycle which is wreaking havoc across the globe.

What are some of the biggest limitations preventing AI from becoming a real “thing”?

  • Processing power

One of the biggest issues with most AI development teams is that they don’t have the required technology to allow the AI systems to process data at the correct speed in order for the technology to become effective.

This means until technology companies develop the correct technology which will allow companies and public places to make use of the technology without having to compromise on the amount of space currently needed to make use of AI and also the number of resources needed in order to power some of the technology needed. The ideal technology for AI to be running on while on sale on the consumer market is that of a device smaller than the average cellular device.

It is important to note that because of the shortage of technology companies making the required technology companies like Nvidia are welcoming the large number of customers, who are buying their CPU’s for the purpose of AI development.

  • Shortage of Coders

You would think that a technology bases world you would be able to find a decent amount of programmers who are able to write the required code for AI development, right?

Unfortunately, this is not the case as at the moment there is a massive shortage of decent programmers who are able to code this technology. This can cause amassive problem in terms of the speed of which AI systems are able to develop and besides from the problem with coders not having the correct hardware to program on, the number of programmers is so low because of one main reason.

  • AI is a new technology which has not been mastered which means that there isn’t really a course or degree which you can do to make sure you can program the correct code.

This has created a rather lucrative job opportunity for programmers who can code AI systems.

Competition

This brings us to our last point, competition.

There are a large number of new startups which is trying to get a foot in the door within the world of AI because of the money which can bring them.

Because of this the world of AI is becoming increasingly competitive and causing the development of AI to slow done as the competition is forcing many programmers do not want to code anymore due to stress and the frustration of not having the correct equipment.

5 Reasons Why You Should Prioritise Internet Security

Published

on

Most people nowadays can no longer do without their laptops, computers, and smartphones. Some people can no longer stand a day without connecting to the internet. While the advent of the internet has brought in loads of perks (especially for freelancers and entrepreneurs), users still need to practice caution since there are a lot of risks if internet security is taken for granted. Here are some of the biggest reasons why you should make your internet security a top priority:

Loss of Privacy and Confidentiality

You definitely don’t want any of your confidential or private information and messages to be viewed, intercepted, or stolen. Government institutions and companies that hold highly sensitive information are more prone to this kind of risk. Thus, there’s a need to update their systems to bring maximum security about.

Identity Theft

Identity theft is one of the biggest issues online as most people are now into buying, selling, and exchanging information through the web. If internet security is not prioritized, these online transactions may lead to fraudulent activities like cyber-criminals getting access to your credit card information, social security number, and other personal data. Using these sensitive data, they can make purchases, apply for government benefits, take out loans, or even ruin your private life. The damages of identity theft could be vast, and so caution is a must.

Data Theft

Your photos, videos, documents, and other digital files are also prone to data theft. These data can be distributed or resold illegally. For example, companies may end up losing confidential financial files, important testing data, product blueprints, trade secrets, and many more. Governments are also at risk of losing their sensitive data like research projects, strategies, agent names abroad, lists of military placements, and so on.

Computer Damage

There are also some hackers that are more interested in causing damage than embezzling information. They can cause harm to your computer using Trojans, malicious software, and other computer viruses. These can render your computer unworkable. The common targets are corporate and government systems. Hackers attach their computers to disrupt services and communications, resulting in various secondary problems.

Ruined reputation

Hackers could get into your system and post something that could ruin your reputation online. This includes posting data that are supposed to be private for everyone to see. Bad posts could crumble the public image that you have worked so hard to establish. This is particularly risky for influential people and huge businesses. The challenge is that once something is posted online, it is nearly impossible to totally erase it, especially if the damage is already done.

Lost revenue

If your business’ online system is crashed, this could lead to downtime. And downtime means lost revenue. This could also affect your credibility as customers are likely to lose their trust in a business that isn’t totally secure. All your digital money could also go down the drain once the hackers find their way into your accounting and financial system or digital wallets.

How to improve your internet security

With the plethora of risks poor internet security tags along, you need to make sure that you’re doing the right precautions to keep troubles at bay. You could start with the following:

  1. Have secure passwords for all your accounts

Your passwords should be strong and secure. Use long passwords that have random letters, numbers, and characters.

  1. Have a working antivirus software on your computer

Use a reliable antivirus software to protect your computer from viruses and other malicious software programs that could steal your data and cause other unwanted damages.

  1. Do not click on malicious links

Be wary of unknown links from unknown sources. If you are not familiar with the source of an email, just ignore it instead of jumping into the risk.

  1. Use the latest version of web browsers

Update your web browser from time to time. Use the latest version as much as possible as new versions always come with better security features.

  1. Screen all downloads

If the website is unfamiliar, do not download or install programs from that source. Also, prior to opening attachments or downloads, scan it with your internet security protocol for an added layer of protection.

As security features get more advanced, hacking strategies also get better. Thus, always update your security features and do whatever you can to equip yourself with the best security measures available.

As a small business owner, one of the hardest things which any business owner has to face is to make sure that their product sells to the general market.

This product can be anything from physical goods, a concept to services rendered. Many people think that starting your own company is an easy process which if you just have one good idea then everything will fall into place and they will become a multi-billionaire.

The above statement is far from the reality and the in real life coming up with a business idea is the easy part.

Sitting the long hours every day and night for 365 days of the years, making sure that your idea or concept is a success, trying to sell the idea to the people of your community and failing.

A business is worse than a child, it causes way more stress and it takes so much out of you on both a physical and mental capacity.

Trust me when I say that running a business is one of the worst jobs in the world, as the boss you have no set hours, set leave, you can’t just quite as your life depends on you making sure that your business is a massive success (which can be relative to your local community or relative to the global community).

When you speak to lots of successful people, you will note a few things, or rather you will note that these people have the following character traits;

  • They are driven
  • They are disciplined – this refers to both self-discipline and discipline
  • They are creatures of habit – meaning if you get into the correct habits then you will have a greater chance at success than your average person.
  • Routine is their friend – Successful people understand the concept of time doesn’t exist, meaning that every moment they have to make sure their business will succeed they take it and thrive.
  • They are punctual – You know that saying of time is money, well as a business owner this saying is correct in every sense of the word. It is a good idea to make sure that you are on time to everything, the quicker you get things done, the more money they will earn and the quicker they can move onto the next task.
  • They are thinkers who live outside the box – Being able to find solutions to make sure that your business is a success is one of the key skills you will have to learn, for example, to save time with creating documents successful people will make use of a document template service to cut the amount of time spent on admin work.
  • They are innovative thinkers who always find the positive in everything.

Have you ever heard the saying that attitude is everything?

For successful business people this saying is everything, being able to see the positive in everything that is around you gives you a particular mindset which will help you to find solutions for problems that you have never had to face before and in situations which many people will quit and throw in the towel you will be able to find a creative way to make sure that you make ends meet and grow your business even further.

Technology is your friend

One of these “impossible” situations which you could end up in is that your customer base is not large enough to support your business, there are many reasons why this could be the case, however the solution which you should be able to find, is to create an online store to help extend your business and sell more products on a global scale.

Why an online store?

Having an online store can drastically change the success rate of your business, within an estimated gross global sale margin of over 1.9 Trillion US Dollars in the year of 2016 and a projected margin of 4.2 Trillion US Dollars by the year of 2020, there is very little reason money wise why you should not invest in an online store and a website which you can advertise your business within.

Final thoughts

Running your own business is a hard and difficult task, which takes lots of hard work and many sleepless nights, however, if you make use of innovative methods to make sure your business is a success then you will find that your business venture can become a very rewarding venture.
